Tuesday, September 7, 2010 -  Bob Evan’s Community Fun Day event –– Friends, Food, & Fundraising ALL Day long!  This event supports our I Can Read Program which provides one-on-one reading mentoring to students in grades K-3.  Mention that you would like to support Flagler Volunteer Services and the I Can Read Program at checkout or call our office to have a flyer on the event mailed or emailed to you and 15% of your Bob Evan’s purchase will be donated to us.  You can support our efforts even without eating at Bob Evan's on this day only!  Your purchase of take-home meals, desserts, gift certificates, or other items also counts.   Additionally books for young children appropriate for grades K-3 will be collected at Bob Evan’s!  Help us foster a love of reading in our youth!

 

September 2010 - I Can Read Volunteer Orientations – If you are interested in providing one-on-one reading mentoring assistance to a child in grades K-3 at Old Kings Elementary School, Rymfire Elementary School or Wadsworth Elementary School please contact Jean at 597-2950.  Mandatory Volunteer Orientations will be held the beginning of September for all I Can Read volunteers.  Participation requires a commitment to mentoring the same child/children for the entire school year.   An open orientation for volunteers not affiliated with any school will be held on September 2nd at 3 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce in the Flagler Room.  For volunteers that are already affiliated with Old Kings Elementary, Rymfire, and Wadsworth there will be specific orientations at each school.   Please contact the office at 597-2950 to register.

 

 

 

Tuesday, September 14, 2010 – A presentation on Managing Your Finances is being offered by Wachovia Bank to any interested volunteers.  The presentation will be held at the Wachovia office located at 1050 Palm Coast Parkway (corner of Pine Cone Drive) at 6:30 p.m.  There will be a financial advisor and a mortgage specialist in attendance.  Please register to attend by calling our office.

 

Tuesday, September 21, 2010 -

Bed Race Team Meeting - location to be determined - 5:30 p.m.  - Bed Race Team members and any other interested parties are invited to be motivated and learn more about this year's event rules and fun activities that we have planned.

 

 

Friday & Saturday - October 1st & 2nd, 2010 -  Fun Coast Bed Race - Flagler Volunteer Services, Kiwanis Club of Flagler County, and the Flagler Beach Rotary Club in coordination with the City of Flagler Beach will conduct the 2nd Annual Flagler Fun Coast Bed Race to Benefit Children and Youth Programs in Flagler County.  Activities begin with a preview party at 5:00 p.m. on Friday and continue Saturday with the Bed Parade at 3:00 p.m. and the Bed Race at 4:00 p.m.  You can get a team together, build a bed and decorate it according to a theme that YOU CHOOSE!  If you win the race, you take home the bragging rights for the whole year.  So wake up you sleepy head, get up, get out of bed and join us as a participant or just come out and watch the fun and excitement.   Prizes will be awarded for Beauty, Creativity, and Decorative Humor at the parade.  To you register your team or get more info, contact Jean MacAllister at 597-2950 or visit our website at www.flaglerfuncoastbedrace.org .

 

 

  

Friday & Saturday - October 1st – 2nd , 2010 -RSVP Giving Store Rummage Sale in the Cattleman’s Hall at the F.C. Fairgrounds–– 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. This is our fall rummage sale to benefit the RSVP Giving Store.  We will have amazing treasures and trinkets for unbelievable bargain prices.  Please stop by and check out the selection.  Also if you have items you would like to donate please call the office to schedule drop off or pick up. 

 

 Saturday, October 9, 2010 – Fishing Tournament – Join us as we fish the waterway from St. Augustine Inlet to the Tomoka River.  The tournament will be held at Herschel King Park, Palm Coast  There is a $50 entry per person.  Prizes will be given in the following categories:  Trout, Redfish, Flounder, and Drum.  You CAN Win Big $$$!  Proceeds will benefit the signature programs conducted by Flagler Volunteer Services. 

 

Thursday, October 21, 2010 -  A presentation on Preventing IdentityTheft  is being offered by RBC Bank to any interested volunteers.  The presentation will begin at 4:00 p.m. Location to be determined.  Please register to attend by calling our office.

 

Monday, October 25, 2010 -  Bob Evan’s Community Fun Day event –– Friends, Food, & Fundraising ALL Day long!  Help us teach local children the Joy of Giving!  This event supports our Giving Store Program which provides children who would otherwise be unable to purchase gift items for their household members during the holidays the opportunity to select a gift item free of charge for each person that lives with them.  Mention that you would like to support Flagler Volunteer Services and the Giving Store Program at checkout or call our office to have a flyer on the event mailed to you and 15% of your Bob Evan’s purchase will be donated to us.  Additionally gift items for the store will be collected at Bob Evan’s! 

 

Tuesday, November 9, 2010 -  Taste of Portugal Luncheon to benefit the Giving Store – The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m and cost $20 to attend.  Buffet includes:  Chicken Marsala, Steak with onions, Fish filet in lemon sauce, Rice, Roasted potatoes, Mixed vegetables, Salad, Dessert and Beverage.  Gratuity is included in the cost.  There will be doorprizes and a 50/50.  Additionally, if you bring a new, unwrapped gift for the Giving Store (no food or clothing please) you will receive a raffle ticket!!

Saturday - November 20, 2010 – 9 a.m. -1 p.m., Friday – November 26, 2010 - 12 noon - 4 p.m., Saturday, November 27, 2010  – 9 a.m. -1 p.m. - Giving Store Registration will be held at the Government Services Building on Hwy 100 in Bunnell (the building with the dome).   If you know of a child in grades K-5 that would otherwise be unable to purchase gift items for his/her household members during the holidays please share with them the registration times!  For more information on the Giving Store click  the following link:  http://www.flaglervolunteer.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=67&Itemid=80

 

Friday – December 10, 2010 - Giving Store Open House –– The Open House is an opportunity to see the Giving Store when it is all set up and ready for the children to come through.  This event is targeted for Giving Store funders, supporters, volunteers and other interested parties.  The event is held in Cattleman’s Hall at the Flagler County Fairgrounds from  12 noon – 2 p.m.

Saturday December 11, 2010 - Giving Store –– The Giving Store is an opportunity for children who would otherwise be unable to purchase gifts for their household members to select gifts FREE OF CHARGE for everyone who lives in their household. RSVP volunteers will escort each child through the Giving Store. Once gifts are selected for each household member an RSVP volunteer will help the child wrap the gifts.  Santa will be on hand giving out candy canes and refreshments will be served.  CHILDREN MUST PRE-REGISTER. 

Saturday, February 5, 2011 - A Valentine Celebration!    Annual Dinner, Dance & Silent Auction.  5pm - 9pm. Hilton Garden Inn, Palm Coast.  This event is our largest fundraiser and helps us to continue to provide volunteer support to more than 80 local agencies in Flagler County.  There will be fabulous food, entertainment, and great items waiting on your bid!  Tickets:  Volunteers $45, Guests $50, or a Table for 8 $350.  Limited seating.  Reserve your spot today!  Mail your checks to Flagler Volunteer Services, P.O. April 30, 2011 – May 7, 2011 – Group Cruise - Whether you are looking for some rest & rehabilitation, an attitude adjustment, excitement & adventure, or just Fun Fun Fun, you will find it on our 2011 Group Fundraising Cruise to the Exotic Western Caribbean.  We will be sailing aboard Carnival’s newest Fun Ship, “the Carnival Dream”.  Ship sails out of Port Canaveral on April 30, 2011.  Our 7-night itinerary includes:  A Fun Day at Sea, Cozumel, Mexico, Isla Roatan, Belize, Costa Maya, Mexico, A Fun Day at Sea, Return to Port Canaveral.  Prices start at $807.13 per person.  $250 per person deposit is due with your registration.  Payment plans are available.  If you are interested please let us know as soon as possible so that we can ensure that we have enough cabins booked at our current rates!  Can you really plan nearly a year ahead??
