WHAT IS THE "GIVING STORE"? The Giving Store is an opportunity for children who would otherwise be unable to purchase gifts for their household members to select gifts FREE OF CHARGE for everyone who lives in their household. RSVP volunteers will escort each child through the Giving Store. Once gifts are selected for each household member an RSVP volunteer will help the child wrap the gifts. Santa will be on hand giving out candy canes and refreshments will be served. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE GIVING STORE? To give these young children an opportunity to experience the "JOY OF GIVING" WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE? Children who would otherwise be unable to purchase gifts for their household members are invited to participate in the Giving Store shopping spree. HOW OLD MUST YOU BE? Children selected to pick out gifts are elementary school age. (Students in Kindergarten - Fifth Grade.) HOW CAN I REGISTER MY CHILD? Registration for the 2010 Giving Store will be held in the Government Services Building (1769 E. Moody Blvd. Bldg. 2) at the following times: Saturday, November 20, 2010 - 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Friday, Novemer 26, 2010 - 12 noon - 4 p.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010 - 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM TOYS FOR TOTS OR OTHER HOLIDAY PROGRAMS? Many holiday programs for kids give the child a toy. This store gives them something better. It gives them the life long lesson that "it is better to give than receive". If you have ever seen a child buy a gift for their mother or father or other family member and seen the joy they have in their eyes when that present is opened, that is what this store is about. The Giving Store name says it all. WHEN IS THE GIVING STORE BEING HELD? The children will participate in the store on December 11, 2010. The store will be held in the Cattleman's Hall at the Flagler County Fairgrounds. WHAT IF I WANT TO DONATE SOMETHING TO THE GIVING STORE? Donations may be brought to the Flagler Volunteer Services office Suite 2A in the Flagler Technical Center – One Corporate Drive, just off Palm Coast Parkway (behind Kohl's) in Palm Coast. If transportation is a problem please contact the office and we will arrange a pick up. WHAT TYPE OF DONATIONS DOES THE GIVING STORE NEED? We are looking for new items (no clothing or food) that would be appropriate for a mother, father, grandparent, sister or brother. There is also a need for wrapping paper, gift bags, scotch tape, bows, ribbons, tags, etc. Monetary donations should be made out as follows: Flagler Volunteer Services. Our mail address is: Flagler Volunteer Services, PO Box 353755. Palm Coast, FL 32135.
